Extractions

At Boca Dental Group, we always try to preserve as much of our patients’ natural tooth material as possible. That said, there are some situations where patients may need a dental extraction. Learn more about this procedure.

When Extractions Are Necessary

These are a few of the most common reasons why we may need to perform an extraction:

Post op instructions

  • There’s crowding in your mouth.
  • Your teeth are decayed or broken beyond repair.
  • You have severe gum disease.
  • Your wisdom teeth are impacted or otherwise causing issues.

What to Expect When Getting an Extraction

Extractions are a common procedure, so there’s no need to worry before your appointment.

Pulling a tooth is a fairly quick procedure that often only requires a single appointment, even if you need more than one tooth extracted. We may recommend multiple appointments, depending on the location of the teeth and the number of them that need to get pulled.

After the procedure, it’s important to rest. It takes a couple days for the area to clot, and it may take a couple weeks before the tissue has fully healed.

There are several ways to replace your teeth, but dental implants are the most popular and effective. Your dentist will discuss your best options for what to do once the tooth is pulled.
